Fraté Maté Delivery and Returns: France, EU and Switzerland Costs, Timings and Rules

Fraté Maté ships from Aix-en-Provence and its delivery page is unusually specific: carrier, days of the week, transit time, weight limit and price for every option in France, and a per-country starting price for the rest of Europe. Its returns rules, by contrast, are spread across three pages that do not quite agree with one another. This guide brings all of it together as published on fratemateclub.com on 4 September 2026, so you know what you will pay to receive an order and what happens if you want to send it back.

✓ In France, aim for €55. Below it you pay €3.40 (relay point) to €9.00 (signed home delivery); at €55 every option is free, and delivery is 1–3 days Monday to Saturday.
✓ In the EU, expect a Colissimo relay point and €6.26–9.77 by weight. Loose-leaf kilos push the price up faster than tea bags; there is no free-shipping threshold stated for international orders.
✗ Opened maté cannot be returned, on any of the three pages. Try a 30-bag box before ordering a kilo, because a return is only possible on sealed packs within 30 days (14 days under the legal withdrawal right).

Two details from the terms of sale are worth knowing. Transit times exclude Sundays and public holidays, and where a signature is taken the parcel is deemed complete and undamaged at that moment — so with DPD Predict, check the box before you sign. Overseas French territories are not covered; the page says metropolitan France only.
Getting to €55 is easy with the products people actually buy. Four 30-bag boxes (€59.60) or a Coffret Énergie (€54.22) plus a €3.39 cleaning brush both qualify; a single 90-bag box (€40.23) does not, so pair it with a €14.90 30-bag box to try a second flavour and ship free.
Delivery to the rest of Europe
International orders go to a Colissimo relay point, priced by weight from the figures below. Switzerland is the exception, delivered to the door by DPD at a flat €14.90 with a note that customs charges may apply.

“From” means the lightest band; a 5 kg bag of loose leaf will cost more. Because tea bags are light, EU buyers get better value per euro of shipping by ordering the 60- or 90-bag boxes than by ordering loose leaf. Transit times for international orders are not stated on the delivery page; the terms of sale commit only to a maximum of 30 days where no time is shown.
Returns: three pages, one consistent rule
The store publishes a one-line Shopify refund policy (“You have 30 days to return the products… we refund you”), a longer Politique de retour, and the legal terms of sale. They differ on details but agree on the point that matters: a bag of maté that has been opened cannot be returned or refunded.

The practical reading: you have a 30-day window by store policy (which is longer than the 14-day legal minimum), but only for sealed products, and you pay to send them back. Gourds, bombillas and coffret accessories are returnable if unused and complete. Opened maté, opened powders and used gourds are not. For damage on arrival, the terms tell you to check the parcel at delivery; with an unsigned relay-point collection, photograph the box before you open it.

- Pick a relay point in France: €3.40 versus €4.90, same 1–3 days, and no missed-delivery card.
- Cross €55 with a second flavour rather than paying shipping on a €40 box.
- Try a 30-bag box of any new flavour before the 500 g or 1 kg bag — the opened-bag rule makes the big bag an irreversible decision.
- In the EU, favour bags over loose leaf to stay in the lowest weight band.
- Keep the outer box and photograph it if anything is damaged; the terms treat a signed delivery as accepted.
