How We Score: Our Rating Framework Explained
Last updated: July 2026
Every score you see on Hnlsharing — like a 4.4/5 on a product review — comes from the same framework, applied the same way to every brand we cover. This page explains exactly how those numbers are calculated, so you can judge our judgments.
The 4 Scoring Criteria
Each product or service is scored on four weighted criteria. The final score is the weighted average, rounded to one decimal.
| Criterion | Weight | What we look at |
|---|---|---|
| Performance & Quality | 40% | Does the product deliver its core promise? Materials, build, real-world results, durability over time. |
| Value for Money | 25% | Price vs. comparable alternatives, shipping costs, and whether available discounts change the equation. |
| Customer Feedback | 20% | Aggregated verified-buyer reviews across multiple platforms — patterns, not cherry-picked quotes. |
| Support & Policies | 15% | Return policy, warranty, shipping speed, and how the company handles complaints. |
What the Numbers Mean
How We Verify Coupons
Every coupon on our store pages is checked manually before publishing: we open the merchant checkout, apply the code, and confirm the discount registers. Codes are re-checked when merchants update their promotions. If a code stops working, we remove it or mark it clearly — we do not leave dead codes up to farm clicks.
What We Don’t Do
- Brands cannot pay for a higher score or a better ranking. Ever.
- We do not fabricate hands-on testing claims. When a review is based on research and aggregated customer data rather than physical testing, the article says so.
- We do not let affiliate commissions decide what we recommend — the same framework applies whether or not a brand has an affiliate program.
How We Make Money
Hnlsharing is reader-supported. When you buy through links on our site or use one of our discount codes, we may earn an affiliate commission from the merchant — at no extra cost to you.
What this affects: which brands we can afford to cover in depth, and the discounts we can negotiate for readers.
What this never affects: scores, rankings, pros & cons, or our verdicts. Commission rates play no role in our scoring framework, and brands cannot pay to improve a review.
